About Seedr
Seedr is a cloud file management and playback platform that lets you fetch files from web links to your personal cloud storage, and access them later from your devices.
Who are we?
Velvet Software LTD (the "Company") is the developer and operator of the Seedr website and services (all, the "Services").
Velvet Software LTD is committed to keeping your privacy when you visit and use our services as further outlined in this Privacy Policy. We have created this Privacy Policy because we highly value your Personal Data and information. Please read it as it includes important information in respect of your Personal Data and information, and how we treat and store it. The Company collects information about you to be used for improving the quality of the service, resolving technical issues and general fine-tuning of the service.
Please be aware that you should take care to protect private information or information that is important to you. The Company shall not be held responsible for protecting any information not stored by us (such as passwords you store elsewhere) and is not liable for the protection of privacy of electronic mail or any information transferred through the Internet or any other network that you may use. Please be aware. You should bear in mind and acknowledge that the Company does not bear any liability for (i) the loss or damage of any data placed or stored on our server; and (ii) damage to hardware or software of yours when using the services, including but not limited to damage caused by content; (iii) personal user data provided during the use of the services.
The Company makes lot of efforts to protect it users privacy, many of such compatible with privacy protection laws and regulation, including EU's GDPR regulation. For any questions or concerns, please visit our help center at /help/
Consent:
By using the Seedr Services or allowing someone else to use it on your behalf, you are expressly and affirmatively consenting to our collection, use, disclosure, transfer and storage in accordance with this Privacy Policy of any Personal Data and information received by us as a result of such use. You hereby acknowledge that there is no law or regulation applicable that obligate you to provide any of the Personal Data, and you do that by your free will, in order to enjoy the Services.
Which Information do we collect?
Personal Data:
Any IP address used in our services, or during payment processing in external services
Any data you provide during payment processing. Including but not limited to: Your full name and address, zip code and credit card details. For the avoidance of all doubts – such data is not stored on our servers, and is in use only for the payment process.
Paypal account information
Facebook account id and email you use for signup or login
Email address
Connected cloud storage data: if you connect Google Drive or another cloud storage provider, see "Google user data and connected cloud storage" below.
Non-Personal Data:
Any demographic information such as: location, gender and non-personal usage history
What use do we do of your Information?
Personal Data
Any Personal Data we collect is being used in a way that is consistent with this Privacy Policy, and may be used as follows:
Access and Use: Any Personal Data provided to us by you in order to obtain access to any functionality of the Services may be used by us in order to provide you with access to the needed functionality and to monitor your use of such functionality.
Company's Business Purposes: Any Personal Data provided to us by you may be used by us in order to help us improve the functionality of the Services, to better understand our users, to protect against, identify or address wrongdoing, to enforce our Terms of Use, and to generally manage the Services and our business.
A Specific Reason: Any Personal Data provided to us by you for a specific reason may be used by us in connection with that specific reason, including but not limited to access credentials to external services and devices you choose to connect to the Services.
Marketing: Any Personal Data provided to us by you may be used by us to contact you in the future for our marketing and advertising purposes, including without limitation to inform you about new services we believe might be of interest to you, and to develop promotional or marketing materials and provide those materials to you.
Statistics:
Any Personal Data provided to us by you may be used by us for statistic reports containing aggregated information.
Non-Personal Data:
Since Non-Personal Data cannot be used to identify you in person, we may use such data in any way permitted by law.
What are your rights in regard of your Personal Data?
You always have the right, to be exercised within limits of reason, to ask and receive a copy of your Personal Data stored at our servers. You may do that by sending an email to support@seedr.cc.
In addition, you always have the right, to be exercised within limits of reason, to ask us to erase all your Personal Data stored at our servers. You may do that by sending an email to support@seedr.cc. Please be aware that by erasing your Personal Data, some or all of our Services (based on your Personal Data) may no longer be available to you.
Which Information do we share with Third Parties?
Personal Data We have no intention of transferring your Personal Data to any other third party. However, naturally there are circumstances in which we may disclose, share or transfer your Personal Data, without a further notice, as follows:
Required by Law – If we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, including but not limited to, orders by any governmental entity, court or any other judicial entity, in any jurisdiction.
To Prevent Wrongdoing – If we believe in good faith that disclosure is required in order to prevent illegal activity or fraud. For the avoidance of all doubts – we shall not voluntarily provide any such data to anyone.
Business Purposes: As we develop our business, we might sell or buy businesses or assets. In the event of a corporate sale, merger, reorganization, dissolution or similar event, Personal Data may be part of the transferred assets. You acknowledge and agree that any successor to or acquirer of the company (or its assets) will continue to have the right to use your Personal Data and information in accordance with the terms of this Privacy Policy. In such cases we shall notify you in advance, and let you choose whether you wish to remove your data from our servers. Google user data is transferred in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets only with your explicit prior consent.
Marketing – We may disclose Personal Data for purpose of marketing or advertising the Services. Notwithstanding the above – identifying information (such as full name, email, full IP address) shall never be disclosed.
Statistics – Your data may be used in the production of statistic reports containing aggregated information, which would be transferred to third parties in order to promote and improve the Services. Such aggregated information will not include personally identifiable information.
Non-Personal Data Since Non-Personal Data cannot be used to identify you in person, we may disclose such data in any way permitted by law.
Google user data and connected cloud storage
Seedr lets you connect cloud storage accounts, including Google Drive, so you can browse, search, transfer and convert your files from Seedr. This section explains what we do with data we receive from Google and other connected providers.
What we access
When you connect Google Drive, and only after you approve Google's consent screen, Seedr receives:
your Google account's email address and basic profile (name and profile picture), used to identify the connected account;
OAuth access and refresh tokens that let Seedr act on your Drive while it is connected;
Google Drive (full access): permission to see, edit, create and delete the files in your Google Drive;
Google Drive Picker (selected files): access only to the files you pick in Google's file picker, and files Seedr creates for you.
What Seedr can see. With the full-access option you choose, under "What Seedr can see", either Entire Drive or Selected folders. With Selected folders, Seedr refuses to browse, search, preview, download or transfer anything outside the folders you chose. The search index described below also covers only the folders you chose.
How we use it
We use Google data only to provide the features you use in Seedr:
showing your Drive folders and files in Seedr's file manager;
searching your Drive;
copying or moving files between Seedr and folders you choose, including by drag and drop;
renaming, deleting or creating files and folders when you ask;
converting a Drive file you select and saving the result to your Drive.
Every transfer, change or conversion happens because you started it.
What we store, and for how long
Tokens: kept while the account is connected. When you disconnect, Seedr asks Google to revoke its access and deletes the tokens. If Google cannot be reached, we keep only the encrypted refresh token to retry the revoke, for at most 7 days, then delete it.
Search index: to make search fast, Seedr keeps a private index of your Drive: file names, folder paths, file types, sizes, dates and Drive file IDs. For PDF, Word (.docx), OpenDocument (.odt), PowerPoint (.pptx), Excel (.xlsx) and text-based files such as .txt, .csv, .rtf, .md, .json, .xml, .html and source code, up to 20 MB, it also keeps up to 256 KB of text from each file so you can search inside it. Google Docs, Sheets and Slides are not text-indexed. We do not index owners, sharing settings or thumbnails. The index is used only for your own searches in Seedr.
When you disconnect: the account is removed from search right away. If that fails, we retry automatically every minute until it succeeds. The underlying index data is erased when the index storage is next compacted.
Files you copy into Seedr: stored as your Seedr files, under the same rules as any other Seedr file, until you delete them.
Conversions: run on Seedr-operated servers, and the result is saved where you chose.
Sharing
We do not sell Google user data. We do not transfer it to third parties, except:
to service providers that host Seedr's own infrastructure and act on our instructions;
when needed for security;
to comply with law;
as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, only with your explicit prior consent.
We do not use Google user data for advertising. This applies notwithstanding the Marketing and Business Purposes sections above: we do not use Google user data for advertising or marketing. We do not allow humans to read it, except with your explicit permission (for example a support request you make), when needed for security, or to comply with law.
AI and machine learning
We do not use Google user data, or data obtained through Google Workspace APIs, to develop, improve or train generalized or non-personalized AI or machine-learning models. Indexing and search run on Seedr's own servers; we do not send Google user data to third-party AI or analytics services.
Your controls
Disconnect Google Drive at any time in Settings → External services. Seedr then asks Google to revoke its access and deletes the tokens. If Google cannot be reached, we keep only the encrypted refresh token to retry the revoke, for at most 7 days, then delete it.
You can also remove Seedr's access at myaccount.google.com/permissions.
With full access, you can limit Seedr to selected folders under "What Seedr can see".
To delete your Seedr account and all its data, contact support@seedr.cc. Deleting your account also disconnects every connected cloud account (revoking Seedr's access, deleting our tokens as described above, and deleting our index).
Security
Google data is transmitted over encrypted connections (TLS).
The OAuth access and refresh tokens, and the stored credentials for connected cloud storage, are encrypted at rest (AES-256-GCM).
Access is restricted to the systems that provide the features above.
Limited Use
Seedr's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
What about Children?
You must be at least 13 years of age to use our Services (the "Minimum Age"). However, if the law in your jurisdiction requires you to be older in order for us to lawfully provide the Services to you and process your personal data without parental consent (for example, 16 years of age in Ireland), then the Minimum Age is such older age.
We do not knowingly allow users under the Minimum Age to use the Services, disclose Personal Data or information, and do not knowingly allow our users to share Personal Data or information, from or about a child under the Minimum Age. If we find out that a user is under the Minimum Age, or that the Services contain Personal Data or information from or about a child under the Minimum Age, we will delete all Personal Data and information submitted by this user and their account as quickly as possible. If you know of a user of the Services who is under the Minimum Age, or if you believe that we have Personal Data or information from or about a child under the Minimum Age, please report us on support@seedr.cc.
Links to Other Web Sites
The Services may contain links to other websites and/or third party services. We are not responsible for the privacy policies of such websites and/or services, and we advise you to review their privacy policies.
Storage and Security
We are strongly committed to the protection of your Personal Data and information, and we will take reasonable technical steps, which are accepted in our industry, to keep your Information secure and protect it from loss, misuse or alteration. However, if you notice a risk or any security violations, we advise you to report to us on support@seedr.cc, so we can resolve it as soon as possible.
We recommend that you use, disclose and share your Personal Data and information with caution and don't give out Personal Data and information unless it is necessary, as we cannot guarantee the security of data over the internet and cannot control actions of other users of the Services with whom you choose to share Personal Data and information.
Among other measures, we employ encryption on connections between our servers, and in all connections to users of the service, and we encrypt the OAuth tokens and stored credentials for connected cloud storage at rest. Additionally, we engage in periodic security checks and scans on all our servers to proactively detect and plug any security holes.
Deleting Your Account: Notice and removal
You may, at any time, inform us that you wish to delete your account and/or remove your Personal Data from our servers by a written request to support@seedr.cc, and we shall remove your account and Personal Data in reasonable time.
Disconnecting a cloud storage account deletes the access tokens we hold for it (except, for at most 7 days, the encrypted refresh token kept to retry a revoke Google has not confirmed) and removes it from our search index. Deleting your Seedr account also disconnects every connected cloud account in the same way; see "Google user data and connected cloud storage" above.
Please be advised that after such removal of Personal Data, you shall not be able to use our Services any more.
The above shall not apply to data already provided to third parties, according to the terms of this Privacy Policy, and based on your prior consent.
Cookies
Cookies are required by the Services in order to provide you with the best functionality. We use essential cookies for authentication and session management, and may use analytics cookies to understand service usage. You can control cookies through your browser settings.
Other Terms
Changes to This Privacy Policy
The Services and our business may change from time to time. As a result, at times it may be necessary for us to make changes to this Privacy Policy. We reserve the right, in our sole discretion, to update or modify this Privacy Policy at any time (collectively, "Modifications"). Modifications to this Privacy Policy will be posted to the Seedr website with a change to the "Last Updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy. Please review this Privacy Policy periodically, and especially before you provide any Personal Data or information. This Privacy Policy was last updated on the date indicated above. Your continued use of the Services following the effectiveness of any Modifications to this Privacy Policy constitutes acceptance of those Modifications. If any Modification to this Privacy Policy is not acceptable to you, your sole remedy is to cease accessing, browsing and otherwise using the Services.
Dispute Resolution
The laws of Ireland shall govern this Privacy Policy, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any dispute which may arise in connection with this Privacy Policy shall be brought to the competent court in Dublin, Ireland, which shall be granted exclusive jurisdiction.
